Activities Coming Up!

Ice Skating  – Feb 6

Come join us and enjoy ice skating, music, city lights, snacks, and hot chocolate!

  • When: Friday, February 6
  • Where: City Hall Outdoor Rink 
  • Meet at 6 pm at the ground level of the LRT station next to HUB to travel together with the group.

Do you love Bible discussions?  Come with us to Circle Square Ranch – Halkirk for the first half of Reading Week.  Spend lots of time studying the Bible in YOLO (You Only Live Once). 

  • 5-day trip through the Bible from beginning to the end – maybe 6 hours a day studying!
  • Fun activities: Arrow Tag, dodgeball, basketball, and if the weather is good, we’ll ride horses, shoot BB guns, etc. 
  • Cost:  $350 for everything

Discover: Jesus’ Stories – every Wednesday

Welcome to Discover: Jesus’ Stories on campus in Rutherford Lounge every Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:30 PM. We will eat snacks or a meal together, make friends, learn about parables from the Bible, as told by Jesus, and enjoy small group discussions.

English Conversation – Every Friday Afternoon

Do you want to sharpen your English skills with Heather and Shaylee? 

  • When:  Friday, 2:30 -3:30 pm 
  • Where: IFG Office in HUB Mall 
  • What to Expect: Practice English in an interactive learning space, through conversations on different topics (culture, Jesus, idioms, Canadian slang, etc).

Welcome to James & Ann Siebert’s home for one Friday evening a month. Join us January 16th 2026. Meet and get to know new people from all around the world while enjoying free supper from 6:30-9:00 PM! Enjoy games, optional music and Bible discussion, and much more at our event! If you want to travel with other students from the university, meet on the ground floor of the University HUB Mall LRT station at 5:30 PM and look for one of our student leaders holding an International Friendship Group sign. Or come directly to James & Ann’s home at 826 Ryan Place NW. Contact Yuki for more info at takenaga@ualberta.ca.

Monthly Supper with a Canadian Family (This is not one of our IFG programs)

Families from a local church, Supper Club, are welcoming international students for supper once a month (about 4-6 students per family). The spaces are now full, if you would more information or put on a waiting list for next semester, please contact Tony Tira at tonytira@yegsupperclub.ca

Are you curious about the Bible?

Some students are curious about the Bible. If you are interested in attending a one hour Bible discussion at a time that works for you every week for four weeks, you can talk to James. It would be a no-pressure discussion for students who are new to the Bible.
